Today was wonderful! First, I must mention that our hostesses, Nadea and Dusia, are such a blessing from God. Please pray that God blesses them both for the generosity and selflessness they have shown us. After a restful night’s sleep & a delicious breakfast, we set to work. We gathered with some Deaf Christians to discuss ministry goals and coordinated the worship services for this week. One of the many great people we met was a Ukrainian pastor named Oleg. Once we were finished with that, we headed over to meet an American group from San Antonio, Texas. Last week they helped Nadea and Dusia with a Deaf kid’s camp and are leaving for Texas tomorrow. This was such a God-thing, because the location they stayed at could possibly be used for next year’s short term mission team. Noah also discussed how Deaf International might work with this group in the future.
Tomorrow we will go to the same local Deaf church where we gathered this afternoon. The Hearing congregation and the Deaf congregation will meet together tomorrow morning. Following the service, we’ll have lunch and then a Deaf Bible study. On Monday, we will meet with Deaf leaders to discuss our future together, coordinating how the Bible translation team will function on a long-term basis, and prepraing for short-term translation work, as well as establishing the Moldavian Deaf Christian Association, which will provide infrastructure to allow for continued evangelism & monetary support to Deaf leaders. On Tuesday & Wednesday, we will be doing evangelism in four Deaf hostels. We will go door-to-door to talk to them about Christ & encourage the Deaf people to attend the evening worship services on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
In other news, thank you so much for praying for our acquisition of the language here! We can feel your prayers as we learn Russian Sign Language.
We would love for you to pray for Noah as he prepares to teach the Deaf Bible study that will be held tomorrow after lunch.
